I'm Karyn

I always knew that I wanted to make a difference in this world, as cheesy as that may sound.

I received my undergraduate degree in Dramatic Art from UC Davis and started a career in set design and costuming with Disney. Throughout my time there, I grew into leadership and discovered I had a knack for mentoring people who felt stuck in their careers. I realized that what I truly wanted to do was help people grow into their most authentic selves, so I went back to school to study Clinical Psychology at Antioch University Santa Barbara during which time I focused on Somatic Psychotherapy. It was the perfect fit.

My training includes work with Family Therapy Institute of Santa Barbara and Alsana: An Eating Recovery Community, where I served as Director of Clinical Services. Both in treatment and in private practice, I have worked with individuals, families, and couples to address everything from mental health maintenance to psychosis.

The leadership/clinical background combination has led me to develop a special love for working with other therapists and clinicians. I really enjoy supporting the growth of helping professions, either as their personal therapist or clinical supervisor.

I am still very invested in the arts and have enjoyed finding ways to combine my passions. I am on the board of directors for a small theater company in Ventura County where I focus on producing works related to mental health.

I truly love this work and I would very much like to share that with you.
